I. LANGUAGE CERTIFICATES IN SIS

    The multinational character of our school also manifests itself in the way of teaching foreign languages. First of all, it is important to stress the fact that the language of instruction in school is English. All classes (with the exception of mother-tongue lessons) are therefore conducted in English, which, using the latest teaching methods result in very efficient assimilation of the language by students, ranging from Class "P1". Students from MIddle and Diploma School are taking all the international exams (IGCSE and IB) in English.

    In addition to the English language there is the choice of a second foreign language-French or German from P5.  At the level of IB there is a choice of different languages (French, German, Italian).

Taking into consideration the high level of foreign language teaching in SIS and the accomplishments of our students, SIS decided to correlate the requirements of the IGCSE and IB programmes with outside examinations that confirm the knowledge of a foreign language:

1. Bell International
2. Alliance Francaise
3. Goethe Institut

As part of regular school classes at the Middle and Diploma level the students are prepared for the above exams.

Bearing in mind the large difference in the progress of one class, the teacher may individually suggest accelerating the follow-up exam or postpone it.

II. Correlation of language teaching in the SIS with the type of certificates:

1. Certificate in English - Bell International
Suggestions:
M2-I Gimnajzum -> Description of the format FCE exam, exercises, examination trial in May
M3-II Gimnazjum -> Applicants for the exam, FCE, intensive preparation, examination trial in November and December
M4-III Gimnazjum -> Description of the CAE exam format, exercises, examination trial in May

2. Certificate of knowledge of French-Alliance Francaise
DELF A1 -> CLASS M2, M3
DELF A2 -> CLASS M4
DELF B1 -> D1 (Standard level)
DELF B2 -> D2 (Standard Level)
DELF C1 -> D2 (Higher Level)
DELF C2 -> D3 (Higher Level)

3. Certificate of German language skills - Goethe Institut
A1-FIT IN DEUTSCH 1 ->-M1-M2 JUNE OR FEBRUARY
A2 FIT IN DEUTSCH 2 -> M3-JUNE OR M4 FEBRUARY
B1 ZD OR PIC -> M4 JUNE OR FEBRUARY D1
ZMP C1 -> D3 HL

We believe that it is worthwhile to sit the B1 or C1 external exam (from German), due to the rank of the certificate. A1 and A2 is best carried out internally, unless the parents are interested in such an examination.
